Slipped Disc

General Information

A slipped disc is a well known term that is commonly interchanged with herniated disc.  They are each the same condition.  Slipped disc refers to the action or motion of the soft nucleus pulposis in the center of the disc rupturing through the outer wall of the disc structure.  The origin of the term slipped disc is unclear but explains in layman’s terms what actually occurs.
