Neurogenic Claudication

General Information

Neurogenic claudication is caused by spinal stenosis. It is often used instead of the term spinal stenosis. Neurogenic claudication is a serious spinal cord and spinal nerve problem that causes damage to these important structures. Symptoms can include pain, numbness, weakness, balance problems, difficulty walking any distance, and in severe cases bowel and bladder disturbances. Neurogenic claudication needs to be differentiated from vascular claudication (poor circulation) and neuropathy (a disease of the peripheral nerves).
