Herniated Disc Frequently Asked Questions
Q. If I don’t treat a herniated disc could it lead to more serious conditions?
A herniated disc in the lower back can cause pain and numbness in the buttock and down the leg. This is called sciatica and is the most common herniated disc symptom in the low back. A serious condition known as “Cauda Equina Syndrome” can also develop in the low back affecting bowel and bladder function as well as partial paralysis of the lower limbs if a severely herniated disc is left untreated.
